Amazeatorium Colouring Competition
At the Amazeatorium, we are going to create a unique LEGO mosaic to celebrate the very first flight in Canada. Your art could be part of the picture!
On August 10th,1840, a crowd of spectators gathered in the city of Saint John to see Louis Anselm Lauriat ascend in a hot air balloon, witnessing the very first accomplishment of such a feat in Canada. Lauriat’s balloon, the Star of the East, stayed aloft for over an hour and travelled 21 miles, making Lauriat the first person to look down on the Canadian landscape from the air! Although often cited as the birth of aviation in Canada, most people don't know that it happened. With your help, we're going to help everyone learn about Lauriat's adventure in the air - a very special Saint John "first!
Since we don't have any pictures of Lauriat's balloon, we need kids to help us IMAGINE what it may have looked like!
Robin Sather, our LEGO Certified Professional Builder, will choose one winning design to add into our picture of the scene. At the Amazeatorium, everyone will be able to help create a mosaic version of the image using LEGO bricks! The final piece of art will be displayed for the public to see at the Saint John Airport.
To enter the competition, download and print this colouring page. Colour in the balloon - be creative!
